HomePoker BlogGenting Poker Axes Affiliate program – Won’t Pay Affiliates Going Forward Poker room goes rogue – refuses to pay affiliate revenue going forward We’ve just been informed that the Genting Poker affiliate program is closing and that Genting has no plans to continue paying affiliates for revenues generated by the poker players which they have referred to Genting Poker. Genting Group is a Malaysian conglomerate. It comprises four listed entities SGX:G13) and Genting Hong Kong Limited(HKEX:678). The Genting Group was founded in 1965 by the late Malaysian entrepreneur Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong. Here’s the email we received: In accordance with our affiliate terms and conditions please note that Genting Alderney will be terminating the poker affiliate program, and therefore, your poker affiliate Agreement with effect from 31 March 2014. From that date and for the avoidance of doubt no commission will be earned or accrued in respect of your players. We would be grateful if you can also confirm by response on or before the 31 March 2014 that you have disabled and removed any link, icons or banners to Genting on your site. Janie Rabet Senior Affiliate Executive This means that Genting Poker will no longer pay websites (affiliates) net revenue share on the rake generated by players which they have referred to Genting Poker (as they promised to do in the affiliate agreement: 6.1 The Affiliate shall earn a mutually agreed percentage of Net Profit (the “Referral Commission”) (as defined in clause 6.2) of the stakes/funds placed by Users accessing the GA Website(s) through the Affiliates’ Link(s), payable to Affiliate monthly in arrears. This “fuck you” to affiliates and those who have helped to build the player base of Genting poker may mean the end end for this poker brand. It seems like a strange move by the company given their investment into the live poker scene, especially the Genting Poker Series, and their confirmation that they will not close the site down. We contacted Genting’s live support team to ask if they would be honoring existing affiliate deals, but we hit a brick wall. It looks like Genting poker has gone rogue, dishonoring their promise to pay commission on revenues generated by players referred to them by hard-working poker affiliates. Is this the end of the line for the Genting poker brand? How can a brand survive in the poker industry when it shows zero integrity??
